    APPLICATION

    PREPARE YOUR SURFACE

Lay down a clean, flat surface to work on. Ensure it’s dry and free from any debris that could stick to your paper.

    UNPACK AND FLATTEN YOUR PAPER:

Remove the decoupage paper from its plastic packet gently. If there is folds or creases, you can use baking paper (without wax because it won’t transfer the wax onto you decoupage paper) and iron (without steam) Set you iron on medium to hot temperature with no steam. Place your baking paper on top of your decoupage paper move the iron gently over the baking paper, focus on areas with creases and folds. The gentle heat will help flatten out the paper without damaging it, carefully peel back the baking paper and check if the paper is now smooth and free of folds. If there is still folds repeat the ironing process with baking paper.

    PROCEED WITH DECOUPAGE

Apply a generous coat of water-based (Modge podge, Gripseal or any sealer) to the surface you want to decorate, carefully place the decoupage paper Position the decoupage design onto the project applying slight pressure from the inside out until it adheres. Adjust the placement if needed before the sealer dries. Seal over the decoupage design and let it dry. (2 coats coats are preferred Once it dry, trim the decoupage design using 100 grit sand paper in downward motion at a 45 angle on the edge OR I use a nail fail for edges and if your design is inside a project use a Stanley knife.
